My Journey to Motion Design & Animation

My path to becoming a freelance animator began with a foundation in graphic design. After four years studying graphic design and graduating in 1997, I started my career in print design and corporate identity, developing a strong understanding of visual communication and brand storytelling.

The digital revolution sparked my transition into moving image and animation. Working with new media and Flash animation, I designed animated websites, interactive media, and character animations for global brands including Intel, MTV, and Nickelodeon. This experience showed me the power of animation to engage audiences and communicate complex ideas simply.

Professional Animation Training & Specialisation

Recognising my passion for 3D animation and motion graphics, I made the decision to pursue professional training at the prestigious Escape Studios in London. In 2009, I completed three intensive specialist courses:

• Maya Core Training – Advanced 3D software mastery and technical foundations
• Character Production – Anatomy, character design, modeling, and production workflows
• Character Animation – Professional character animator techniques and production pipelines

This rigorous training gave me the technical skills to compete at broadcast and film industry standards. But I didn’t stop there.

To further specialise in character animation—one of the most demanding animation disciplines—I trained at iAnimate, the world-leading online animation school founded by Pixar, DreamWorks, and ILM veterans. Completing multiple advanced workshops, including:
